Cards from friends and family are starting to arrive in earnest now. The (non-existent) prize for first card of the year went to the lovely couple that run the cattery we use. One of our mogs died this year and I was really touched by their thoughtfulness. Purdy was a bit special and complicated in all ways.
Commercial Christmas cards date back into the 1840s and it was Queen Victoria who kicked off the idea of the ‘official’ Christmas card. For the last 12 years the Woodland Trust have been encouraging us all to recycle our cards. To date over 600 million cards have been recycled and 141,000 trees planted.
